About Us
Welcome to Homemade Day, where everyday home life becomes a little more beautiful, creative, and full of warmth. Here, simple rooms, favorite recipes, and handmade details come together to make home feel more personal, comforting, and wonderfully lived in.
Our Story
It started with a Sunday afternoon that felt too good to keep to ourselves.
Harper, our founder, was reorganizing her kitchen on a rainy Sunday—rearranging open shelves, baking a loaf of bread entirely by feel, and finishing a paper garland she'd been putting off for weeks. By evening, the whole apartment felt different. Warmer. More hers. She texted a friend: "I just made the best day out of nothing. I want everyone to know how to do this."
That feeling—the quiet pride of making something with your hands, the way a small home change can shift your whole mood, the pleasure of a dish that comes out exactly right—is what Homemade Day is about.
We launched with a small team of writers, stylists, home cooks, and crafters who all had the same instinct: that home life is worth paying close attention to, and that the everyday stuff is almost always the stuff that matters most.
The best home content doesn't make you feel behind. It makes you look around the room you're already in and see ten things you could do today—small, satisfying, completely yours. That's the feeling we're always going for. — Harper Lawson, Founder & Creative Director
Turning Home into Happiness
Home should feel like a place you’re always happy to return to. Homemade Day shares inspired ideas for decorating, cooking, and crafting your way toward a more beautiful, comforting everyday.
Our core values
Practical before pretty
We love gorgeous imagery as much as anyone, but every idea we publish has to actually work in a real home—on a real budget, with a real schedule. If it's not doable, it doesn't make the cut.
Warmth over perfection
Homes are meant to be lived in. We celebrate the imperfect garland, the slightly-lopsided cake, and the gallery wall that took three tries. Progress is always more interesting than perfect.
Quietly empowering
We write so that readers walk away feeling capable and inspired—not overwhelmed. Every tutorial, recipe, and styling guide is designed to build confidence, not dependency.
Everyday over editorial
We're not writing for a dream home you'll have someday. We're writing for the home you have right now—and all the ways it can feel a little more alive today.

Harper Lawson
Founder & Creative Director
Harper founded Homemade Day to celebrate the creative rituals that make everyday home life feel brighter. A former interiors editor at a UK home magazine with a decade of styling experience, she brings together her love of decor, crafts, and cooking to shape the site’s warm, practical vision. Her philosophy is simple: every home has a best version of itself, and you do not need a big budget to bring it beautifully to life.
Clara Whitman
Mood & Decor Writer
Clara studied environmental psychology before becoming a home writer—so when she says a certain light temperature affects your mood, she can actually explain why. Her color guides are among our most saved pieces.
Petra Hofer
Recipe Developer & Food Stylist
A classically trained pastry chef who now develops approachable baking projects for home cooks. If she's written a recipe, you can trust that she's made it at least six times and sorted out every possible thing that might go sideways.
Fumiko Tanaka
Crafts & Paper Arts Editor
Fumiko is a practicing printmaker and craft educator who has taught bookbinding, paper craft, and textile arts for fifteen years. Writes tutorials the way she'd teach a friend—clearly, kindly, without skipping the important parts.
James Wu
DIY & Home Projects Editor
James is a furniture maker and weekend woodworker based between Singapore and Portland, bringing a practical, design-minded eye to our most-clicked project tutorials. He specializes in approachable DIY builds that look polished and impressive, but are still realistic enough to tackle on a Saturday afternoon with the right tools, a clear plan, and a little patience.
Diego Morales
Food & Kitchen Writer
Trained at a culinary school in Oaxaca before moving into food media. Develops every recipe in a home kitchen on purpose—he believes that's where the best testing actually happens.
